Past Experience
Dr. Sivam’s past experience includes conducting research on antibody targeted cancer therapy at University of Maryland, the National Cancer Institute, NeoRx Corporation - Seattle, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. She is the research laboratory director at Bastyr University.
Honors
Dr. Sivam is a member of the international Who’s Who Among Professionals (2002). She is a recipient of the award for the Women of Color Excellence in Science in 2006. Dr. Sivam also served as the conference director of the first-ever international conference on botanical authentication at Bastyr University in August 2007.
Current Roles
Dr. Sivam is a professor in the School of Natural Health Sciences and a chemistry instructor for students in the nutrition, herbal sciences, and acupuncture and Oriental medicine programs. She also teaches the Laboratory Research Methods and Natural Products courses. Additionally, she is a member of the executive committee for Bastyr University’s T-32 training grant and a mentor for predoctoral and postdoctoral candidates.

Interests
She is interested in facilitating research at Bastyr University including research on the medicinal effects of garlic, turmeric and Ayurvedic medicines. She also investigates the standardization of herbal extracts by high pressure liquid chromatography. In her spare time, Dr. Sivam enjoys gardening and cooking.
Philosophy
Dr. Sivam believes in motivating students to learn chemistry by relating the subject to nutrition, health and the environment.
