Current Roles
Dr. Lester currently serves as the interim chair of the psychology department. She also teaches a variety of courses in the department, serves as an academic advisor for psychology students, works on curriculum and program development projects, and conducts research in the area of stress, coping and physical pain. She has worked as a researcher at Duke University Medical Center, and as a professor at the University of North Florida and the University of Washington.
Interests
Dr. Lester's research interest areas include stress, stress management, coping and physical pain.
Philosophy
Dr. Lester's teaching philosophy is that a teacher should create a challenging classroom environment which promotes active learning and independent thinking. She believes that teaching is a partnership between professor and student, and that enthusiasm about learning should be demonstrated on both sides.
