Bastyr University Clinic is now hiring friendly, enthusiastic, team and customer service oriented, hardworking individual for both front and back office duties. The Medical Assistant will work independently and with a team to provide both front and back office duties in our Naturopathic teaching clinic. This position has significant contact with patients, medical students, clinic support staff, and Naturopathic faculty physicians. This position will provide support and instruction to medical students on how to run back office labs, EKGs and Spirometry, in addition to being able to perform these skills for patient care. This position will triage patient phone calls, provide patient follow up for lab orders/results, prescription refills and patient information. Will assist with referrals and referral tracking. Will work with staff and faculty to write process improvement policies.


Additionally, as front desk staff, duties include scheduling appointments, verifying patient demographics, check-in, check-out, multi-line phones, referral authorizations, insurance verifications both online & over the phone, and collecting copays and amounts due at appointments. This person must be able to multi-task and provide the highest standard in patient service in an extremely busy environment.


Candidates must have previously worked in a setting where excellent customer service is a priority. Needs to be reliable, self-motivated, enjoy working with people, handle stressful situations in a professional manner and be detail oriented and punctual. Familiarity with Natural Medicine is preferred.

‘Epic’ practice management software experience highly desirable. Must have excellent English language skills, both written and verbal. Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Must possess familiarity with Practice Management software. Advanced computer knowledge/training desired, but not mandatory.

Clinic Operations
Position type: 

Must be certified as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program.

Experience using an Electronic Health Records system is required- preferably EPIC.

2-3 years of customer-related experience required - ideally in a medical office environment (front and back office)
