Bastyr University, a private regionally accredited institution, is accepting applications for a faculty position in the Department of Midwifery in the School of Natural Health Arts and Sciences at its in Kenmore (15 miles North of Seattle), Washington. 

The Department of Midwifery is presently seeking an experienced instructor for academic year 2017-18 to teach Clinical Seminar 5, 6 & 7 during fall, winter and spring quarters. 

Each Clinical Seminar course is 1 credit and is offered for 7 quarters concurrent with Practicum. All Clinical Seminars include an opportunity for students to debrief clinical experiences and integrate theoretical knowledge with midwifery practice. Clinical Seminar 5, 6 & 7 comprise the final year the series and includes case presentations, charting exercises, projects to develop cultural competency, knowledge of community resources, and a requirement of 16 hours of continuing education participation. 

We seek a midwife with extensive clinical experience in out-of-hospital settings who has demonstrated interest and skill in teaching clinical management to student midwives.

Qualifications: 

Licensure/certification as a CPM, CNM and/or LM. Masters level credential preferred but not required.

Teaching experience and/or a commitment to developing teaching skills.

Significant experience in clinical midwifery practice essential in home or birth center setting. Active, current midwifery practice is also preferred.

Continuing education, self-directed study, or relevant experience with course content.

Excellent communication skills in person and on-line.

Preference given to applicants who have served as clinical preceptors for the Department of Midwifery with evidence of good rapport with students.

Requirements

Access to and relevant skills with computer, internet and email.

Available to be off-call during on-site sessions.

Available for online learning activities with students and faculty communications.

Work schedule:   part-time; number of credits and schedule TBD.           

Hiring range:           Salary DOE
