I believe Bastyr trains students better than most schools. You rarely find a nutrition program at a larger university that is so committed to teaching students about real food —whole foods, sustainability and policy matters that influence food.

I also appreciate that I learn so much from my students. They challenge me in ways I could not have anticipated. I have never witnessed students with such passion, interest, inquisitiveness and drive for knowledge. They are a pleasure to work with, and they help make my job rewarding by striving for excellence and expecting excellence in return.

I bring a fairly high level of enthusiasm and a caring attitude to the classroom. I have always been passionate about nutrition, and I think that passion shines through in my teaching style. I am glad I relocated to the Northwest — Bastyr is "all it's cracked up to be," and I feel like I'm finally living in an environment where I belong.
