Expect to be transformed at Bastyr University. Bastyr helped me articulate my life philosophy, which influences all I do. I was a student at Bastyr from 1991-1995 and then served as an adjunct faculty member until 2007, when I became a core faculty member in the Department of Counseling and Health Psychology. For me, naturopathic medicine is not a mere job or profession. It is a way of being.
I teach courses in spirituality and psychology, counseling and mind-body medicine. My specialty areas include homeopathy, yoga and movement therapy, energetic bodywork, and counseling for chronic pain and terminal illness. At the University's teaching clinic, Bastyr Center for Natural Health, I supervise counseling and biofeedback shifts for naturopathic medicine students. Bastyr Center provides a great opportunity for students to learn the practical application of their medicine in a state-of-the-art naturopathic clinic.
As an educator, I appreciate my students' tireless thirst for knowledge and their implacable ability to debate, which is indicative of their active and thoughtful minds. Those who are excited about learning are a joy to walk with on their path to becoming healers, regardless of discipline.
An education at Bastyr is an intense period growth and development. Expect to be different than when you started — expect a true initiation into a career as a healer.
