Naturopathic medicine supporters from around the country convened in Washington DC for the annual DC Federal Legislative Initiative (DC FLI) in April. DC FLI lets members of Congress learn about the benefits of naturopathic medicine and upcoming legislative bills to support the profession. This year’s event focused on legislation to integrate naturopathic doctors as Medicare health care providers and to implement a second annual Naturopathic Medicine Awareness Week.
On April 14, 2014, with bipartisan support and Governor Martin O’Malley’s signature, Maryland became the 18th state to license naturopathic doctors (NDs). The newly signed law provides the people of Maryland greater access to comprehensive naturopathic health care by licensed professionals.
April 26-28 The Washington DC Federal Legislative Initiative (DC FLI) brings naturopathic doctors, naturopathic medical students, and supporters of naturopathic medicine together to meet with federal legislators to advocate for the naturopathic medicine profession.
