April 26-28 Washington DC Federal Legislative Initiative

 DC FLI Supports Naturopathic Medicine

The Washington DC Federal Legislative Initiative (DC FLI) brings naturopathic doctors, naturopathic medical students, and supporters of naturopathic medicine together to meet with federal legislators to advocate for the naturopathic medicine profession. This annual event, sponsored by The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), has been effective in inspiring positive change. Last year’s DC FLI effort was instrumental in the creation of Naturopathic Medicine Week.

Support the DC FLI through participation, AANP membership, and financial donation. Bastyr students are currently raising funds to attend the DC FLI through direct donations and fundraising events.

Kenmore Student Fundraising Events:

The FOC for DC is an annual fundraiser for Bastyr naturopathic medical students asking supporters and providers of naturopathic medicine to donate the equivalent of one first office call (FOC). All donations help send the students to advocate in DC on behalf of naturopathic medicine. For the past 10 years, naturopathic medical students have traveled to Washington, DC for the DC FLI, to help educate others and grow their profession. They have met with over 200 congressional offices and 600 staffers making effective progress in furthering their goals. Last year's DC FLI efforts were successful in getting the national Naturopathic Medicine Awareness Week passed, entering "Naturopathic Medicine" into the congressional record for the first time.
