Bastyr's Neighboring City, Seattle

Mt. RainierSeattle, 10 miles from Bastyr University, has frequently been ranked as one of the country's "best cities." Bastyr students enjoy easy access to Seattle and surrounding area, appreciating the exposure to water, mountains and fresh air. Many students take advantage of Seattle's cultural offerings, including its live music scene and abundance of other arts including large and small theaters and art galleries. The city provides a variety of charming neighborhoods, some quiet and quaint; some bustling with city energy.

Seattle at nightIn Seattle, you'll find every kind of restaurant you desire, including ethnic food such as Indian and Thai, many popular vegetarian restaurants, fruit juice/smoothie bars, fresh northwest seafood restaurants right on Lake Union, and, of course, plenty of cafes and coffee and tea houses.

Special points of interest in Seattle include the Pike Place Market, a bustling outdoor market downtown on the waterfront where local vendors sell arts and crafts and patrons can buy fresh produce and ethnic and special foods. A little further south, Pioneer Square, Seattle's oldest neighborhood, boasts fine dining, art galleries, clubs and a lively nightlife. In addition, many destinations that surround the city are perfect for skiing, snow shoeing, hiking and biking. Oh yes—and did we mention that they are also perfect places to plunk down and study?
