To commemorate the 100th birth date of Dr. John Bastyr, the namesake of Bastyr University, alumni carried a volume from his personal library from Kenmore to our new campus in San Diego.
The Bastyr Book Journey: Celebrating the Legacy of John Bastyr, 100 Years Across 1,000 Miles kicked off on May 16, 2012, Dr. Bastyr’s birthday, at the annual Bastyr Spring for Health Luncheon. From Seattle it traveled south via multiple modes of transportation, reaching the Bastyr University California for its grand opening on September 14, 2012.
The book is Return to Nature by Adolph Just, a favorite of Dr. Bastyr's. The journey symbolizes our intention to carry Dr. Bastyr's healing vision from his roots in the Pacific Northwest outward toward the world's need. We hope to show, through this gesture and many others, how Dr. Bastyr's faith in the healing power of nature finds expression at Bastyr University California.
We've set up a page where you can view photos of the book on its travels from Kenmore to San Diego.
