This 1-credit course, part 1 out of 7 quarters, will focus on beginning skills needed as first year students enter Practicum: Problem triage, case management, and charting Case presentations Critical thinking and problem solving in clinical management Collecting birth data Continuing education opportunities We seek a midwife with extensive clinical experience in out-of-hospital settings who has demonstrated interest and skill in teaching clinical management to student midwives. Department: School of Natural Health Arts & SciencesPosition type: FacultyQualifications: Instructor Qualifications Licensure/certification as a CPM, CNM and/or LM. Masters level credential preferred but not required. Teaching experience and/or a commitment to developing teaching skills. Significant experience in clinical midwifery practice essential in home or birth center setting. Active, current midwifery practice is also preferred. Continuing education, self-directed study, or relevant experience with course content. Excellent communication skills in person and on-line. Preference given to applicants who have served as clinical preceptors for the Department of Midwifery with evidence of good rapport with students Requirements Access to and relevant skills with computer, internet and email. Available to be off-call during on-site sessions. Available for online learning activities with students and faculty communications. Work schedule: part-time; 1 credit, teaching is onsite and online.
