Bastyr University is looking for a full-time Building Engineer in the Facilities Operations Division. This position reports to the Chief Engineer.


Responsibilities:  including but not limited to

  • Provide maintenance and support for University systems including lighting, electrical, plumbing, patch and paint, carpentry, and misc. maintenance
  • Event setup - chairs, tables, and tents for routine and special events
  • Communicate regularly with Chief Engineer and external 3rd party vendors to investigate, repair and maintain all campus buildings and systems
  • Daily refrigeration and boiler inspection rounds
  • Attend meetings, safety training, first aid training etc. as required
  • Knowledge of fire monitoring equipment and responds during fire alarms and drills
  • Perform assigned work orders, day-to-day repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and other tasks in a friendly, accurate, and timely manner
  • Provide maintenance services for all residential housing building
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend system repairs, upgrades or replacements
Position type: 

Required: High school diploma or GED. Valid Washington State driver’s license. Must have patch and paint experience. Three years of relevant maintenance experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, plus prior experience with a university, commercial, or residential work setting desired. Ability to lift 65 pounds may be required. Must have basic computer knowledge and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).  Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.

Desired: 07 electrical, grade 4 boiler fireman, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.
