The Parent Resource Center (PRC) at Bastyr University is looking for a Director for our multi-age (3 months to 5 years) program. We care for the children of students and staff on the Kenmore Campus. Bastyr University, located in Kenmore, Washington, is a regionally accredited, multi-disciplinary institution for higher education and research in the natural health sciences. It is the leading university for natural health sciences in the United States. Founded as a naturopathic medical school in 1978, enrollment now reaches over 900 students in a broad range of undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs in the natural health and applied behavioral sciences

Position Summary:
The PRC Director is responsible for guiding the staff in developing strong relationships with the children, building and scaffolding their learning and development, and seeing that each child's daily needs (eating, napping, diapers, play) are being met. Set an example of relaxed, positive interactions with the children and families, develop strong working relationships with staff. Oversee the center as a whole, and anticipate next steps for the children in care that day. Set up activities and take the lead on toy and book rotation. Organize space for optimal functioning. Responsible for maintaining an inclusive, supportive community for the children at the center. Also responsible for Budget Management, hiring, training and supervising of staff, ordering supplies, work individually with families as needs arise.

Qualifications: 

Qualifications:
- Ability to notice how the whole center is functioning and make adjustments to meet varied needs
- Minimum 4 years of experience in caring for young children in a group setting or nanny position
- Minimum 2 years experience as a team leader, ideally working with other adults in caring for children
- Ability to relate positively to young children, parents, and staff
- Flexibility and enthusiasm when supporting the development of young children
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and problem solve with other staff
- Must be able to pass national background check
- Ability to acquire basic first aid/infant CPR within 30 days of hire date
- Be able to lift up to 40lbs
- Be able to walk, squat, kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children's health and safety
