Program Supervisor – Nutrition & Exercise Department

 

Bastyr University is looking for a Program Supervisor in our School of Nutrition and Exercise Science. 

 

This person will supervise the administrative office for the department, including personnel management and will have oversight of daily functions; as well as create and manage projects in support of the department, the Chair and the Dean.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage administrative office for the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Science.  Includes oversight of daily functions as well as long and short term projects in support of the department and chair.
  • Design, coordinate, and implement systems to support the department and the university in achieving the goals and objectives of the program.
  • Manage department projects and coordinate support of department, staff and faculty as appropriate (examples: catalog, events planning, and faculty meetings).
  • Coordinate course scheduling for department. Collaborate with all academic programs in completing this task.
  • Administer human resource procedures within the department. Includes creation of faculty contract, payroll coordination for faculty and staff, and oversee hiring Teacher Assistants and all work-study for faculty in the department.
  • Assist department chair in development, monitoring and administration of budget and financial procedures for the department.
  • Act as a liaison between the department of nutrition and exercise science, students and other departments of the university.
  • Supervise employees (Administrative Assistant, Volunteer Coordinator) to assure that administrative support to the department, chair and faculty is performed efficiently.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including regular attendance.

 

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training required.
  • At least two years of experience in an administrative support position.  Extensive working knowledge of MS Office required. Ability to learn and adapt to changing technology needs to support faculty and administration, such as using CAMS, Canvas, DocuSign, Vimeo, Zoom, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, ADP, AdAstra, EvalKit and PopID.
  • Previous experience budget planning and/or tracking preferred.
  • Experience supervising employees and working in an academic environment strongly preferred. 
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication, prioritization and multi-tasking skills.  Must be self-directed, accountable, detail oriented and able to meet deadlines.
  • Strong English skills including grammar, proofreading, writing and editing are required.
