As part of National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) Awareness Week, you're invited to learn about binge eating disorder from Bastyr alumna McKenzie Zajonc, MS, CN, LMHCA, a nutritionist transforming people's lives through their relationship to food and wellness. Zajonc will lead an informative session about the warning signs and risk factors, causes and health consequences of binge eating disorder.
Zajonc has led wellness groups at Bastyr Center for Natural Health, University of Washington, Sound Mental Health, YMCA, Microsoft and in Seattle's public high schools. She facilitates nutritional groups and practices Nutritional Counseling for individuals, couples and families in the Puget Sound region with Passionate Nutrition.
This year's NEDAwareness Week theme is "Everybody Knows Somebody" because awareness of eating disorders is spreading, as is the knowledge that eating disorders do not discriminate — ANYONE can be affected. They affect people of all ages, gender and demographics. In the U.S., approximately 20 million women and 10 million men are battling an eating disorder such as anorexia, bulimia or binge eating disorder.
Bastyr faculty and students will be spreading awareness about eating disorders and positive body image in the hallways of the Kenmore Campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. February 25-28. Please stop by to ask questions and pick up some information to help spread awareness.
