Cynthia is a core faculty member in the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Science at Bastyr University. She is also the director of the Dietetic Internship program.

Biography

​​​​​​Meet Internship Director, Dr. Cynthia Bartok. Her clinical experience covers both inpatient and outpatient settings, with a focus on weight management, sports nutrition, and lactation support. Dr. Bartok has taught traditional classes (five to 300 students), hybrid/online classes, laboratories, and intensive discussion courses at several public universities before coming to Bastyr. Her teaching interests span both nutrition and exercise science.

Dr. Bartok's professional interests include weight management, health promotion, public health, sports nutrition, maternal-infant nutrition, and nutrition research.

Education:

  • BS in clinical nutrition from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY
  • MS in sports nutrition from Auburn University, Auburn, AL
  • Ph.D. in human nutrition from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI
  • Dietetic Internship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics

Research Interests

Dr. Bartok’s research activities in the area of sports nutrition, body composition assessment, infant growth, and lactation have resulted in 19 peer-reviewed publications.
