Bastyr's Research Initiatives
-
Bastyr’s very foundation is built upon a tradition of research in the natural health arts and sciences. Our focus is on student-centered, faculty-mentored research in the form of capstone, master’s theses and individual faculty-mentored research projects. In recognition that research has often bypassed or inappropriately utilized BIPOC communities, Bastyr has a stated objective to focus on best practices in diversity, equity and inclusion, and in generating research with intrinsic benefit to traditionally marginalized and underserved communities.

Bastyr University Research Institute was established in 1986 and was the first natural health university research unit to receive a National Institutes of Health grant. Bastyr researchers have received millions of dollars in research funding for a diverse set of initiatives across the natural health spectrum.
