Bastyr's Research Initiatives

  • Bastyr’s very foundation is built upon a tradition of research in the natural health arts and sciences. Our focus is on student-centered, faculty-mentored research in the form of capstone, master’s theses and individual faculty-mentored research projects. In recognition that research has often bypassed or inappropriately utilized BIPOC communities, Bastyr has a stated objective to focus on best practices in diversity, equity and inclusion, and in generating research with intrinsic benefit to traditionally marginalized and underserved communities.

  • Bastyr University Research Institute was established in 1986 and was the first natural health university research unit to receive a National Institutes of Health grant. Bastyr researchers have received millions of dollars in research funding for a diverse set of initiatives across the natural health spectrum.
