Advisor/Evaluator-Registrar’s Office


Bastyr University is looking for an Academic Advisor/Evaluator to join the team in our Registrar’s Office. This person will advise the Naturopathic Medicine students. Academic advising is a collaborative relationship between a student and an academic advisor. The intent of this collaboration is to assist the student in developing meaningful educational goals that are consistent with personal interests, values and abilities.

Primary duties and responsibilities

  • Advise students regarding their academic progress and university policies.
  • Coordinate the evaluation of transfer/waiver coursework.
  • Assist in the development of the course schedule for ND students.
  • Register the students for their quarterly courses, adds, and drops as required.
  • Evaluate students’ academic coursework to determine eligibility to take licensing exams, enter clinic, and graduate.
  • Informs students about alternatives, limitations and possible consequences of academic decisions (e.g. adding, dropping and withdrawing from courses; change of program, major and/or transfer of campus)
  • Answers student inquiries and resolves problems related to curriculum and course prerequisites, referring to catalogues, written course descriptions, and other appropriate sources.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervision – Works under the general supervision of the University Registrar.

Attendance– Individuals in this position are expected to be available during the normal business hours of the university.

Working Conditions – Conditions are those of a typical office environment, requiring frequent oral communication with students and colleagues, the ability to enter data and written communications in electronic format in a timely manner, and sufficient mobility to be present and address students and fellow professionals at appropriate university functions.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • two to four years’ experience in academic advising or related careers in post-secondary education, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position
  • Ability to learn and use complex computer based systems and multi-faceted network related software and database management systems.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to process and maintain highly confidential information.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of varying backgrounds, abilities, outlooks, ages, and nationalities

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday position. Salary $22.00 per hour.
