Bastyr University is seeking an Assistant to the Board of Trustees to provide high-level administrative support to the Board of Trustees.   

This person will be a mature, professional and gracious representative of the University when interacting with both internal and external constituencies. In addition to providing administrative support, this person will create and maintain smooth communications flow via correspondence, e-mail, telephone and in person between the Board of Trustees members and/or major constituents of the University; work on special projects, including preparation of presentations, research, data collection, and report writing; serve as scribe and administrative support to the Board of Trustees and its various subcommittees during meetings; prepares Board meeting agendas and accompanying documents, and handles all aspects of the Board Chair’s communications.

Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent work experience with at least three years’ administrative experience supporting senior executive and/or board support; travel planning, scheduling, and budgeting. In depth proficiency is mandatory with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and internet-based research. Knowledge of alternative and complementary medicine, Bastyr University and Board of Trustee operations is helpful. Must have excellent writing and proofing skills, in addition to proven grammatical proficiency in writing and speaking; organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure. The Assistant to the Board of Trustees must have outstanding interpersonal skills, respond to the Board in a helpful, respectful manner and maintain a sense of calm and professionalism in this busy, demanding role. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality and be able to have excellent judgment and discernment in the sharing of sensitive information. This position provides administrative backup support to the President’s Office when needed.  

The work schedule will be a minimum of 20 hours each week and could increase or vary depending on the needs of the Board of Trustees; with occasional evenings or weekends required. Flexibility with work hours will be a requirement of this position so that the needs of the Board of Trustees can be met.
