Bastyr University, a private regionally accredited institution, is accepting applications for a faculty position in the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Science in the School of Natural Health Arts and Sciences at its Kenmore, Washington campus (15 miles North of Seattle).
This position includes directing the Master of Science in Nutrition, Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), and overseeing all accreditation standards as required by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) to include: resource management; development, coordination, scheduling, and on-going evaluation and outcomes measures assessment of DPD and Nutrition curriculum; recruitment, training and evaluation of DPD adjunct faculty; advising and recruiting potential DPD students; participating in meetings with internal and external stakeholders and serving as a community liaison for the DPD program. Instructional duties and responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate students in human-nutrition related courses as well as in disease prevention and clinical nutrition and dietetics, incorporating a whole food nutrition and natural health paradigm; contributing broad university service through DPD student counseling and academic advisement, committee work, scholarship and professional development.
PhD candidates preferred; minimum master’s degree in Nutrition or Clinical Nutrition, and a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential required. Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience at the graduate and undergraduate level, and a minimum of one (1) year administration experience. Prefer candidate previously ranked as assistant or associate professor at a regionally accredited institution.
The qualified candidate has a capacity to apply Accreditation Standards to a graduate level curriculum and demonstrates an ability to create, organize, store, retrieve and assess evaluative data for ongoing assessment. Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications and nutrient database software required. The qualified candidate has demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety of nutrition courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and provides evidence of exceptional communication skills.
