Director of Admissions Recruitment


Bastyr University has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Admissions Recruitment at our campus in Kenmore, Washington. 
The Director of Admissions provides direction and oversight to the Admissions Advisors and Assistant Directors in implementing a successful student recruitment model. The Director is responsible for developing strategies to attract, recruit, and enroll a qualified, talented, and diverse student body in a manner that supports the University’s recruitment, admissions, and retention goals, as developed in collaboration with the Vice President of Development, Marketing and Enrollment, and Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management. The Director also participates in the development and implementation of departmental and interdepartmental policies and procedures and represents the department on interdepartmental committees.

The Director has opportunity to represent the university’s programs at four-year colleges, community colleges, education and career fairs and other special events. Should be an advocate for the natural health professions, and for higher education in general. Seasonal national travel required. Some local evening and weekends are also required. 

As part of the management team, the Director will also participate in determining marketing tactics (print, web, email, and social media), including the design, development and implementation of a robust, automated prospect and applicant communication sequence and other marketing strategies.  


What you will bring:

  • Five to Eight years’ experience in recruiting, advising and evaluating prospective students.
  • Three to Five years of progressively responsible experience in an admissions office leadership role, having supervised and mentored staff. (Years of experience can be concurrent.)
  • Experience in graduate or professional school admissions preferred.
  • Supervisory experience in a higher education environment required.
  • Experience in the use of administrative software (e.g. CAMS, Banner, Peoplesoft, etc.)
  • Proficient in use of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s or professional degree preferred. Degrees or coursework in communications, marketing or a related field is a plus.
  • Must have knowledge of the higher education environment, and the role of admissions, including policies, procedures and legal requirements, e.g. privacy issues, accreditation, transfer credits.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and persuasively in writing, on the phone, or in person.
  • Demonstrated experience making presentations to small and large groups.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License required.
