Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Wallingford is searching for an upbeat individual for a Medical Records Specialist. This staff person will act as the front line resource for staff, faculty and students for medical records information including standards of charting and general health information management.
The Medical Records Specialist will provide accurate, timely processing and follow-up of incoming and outgoing medical records requests; help sort and other Medical Records related forms. Must be detailed oriented, be able to recognize the various elements of a patient record, have excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task plus work well under pressure. In addition to having excellent customer service skills, candidates will possess the ability to tactfully and professionally problem solve, work well both independently and cooperatively as a member of a team. Indexing and scanning experience in Epic is a plus. Additional duties include answering the Medical Records Helpline; provide appropriate and timely follow-up to questions, assistance with concerns and Medical Records related needs of patients, students, staff and faculty.
Completion of AA program in Medical Records Technology or certification as a RHIT and prior experience working in a medical records office setting, with electronic health records, is a plus.
Other requirements include a minimum of two years customer service related office setting experience or two years of experience in a medical office setting involving excellent record keeping skills and experience handling records or management of protected health information.
