COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement:
All new employees must provide proof of fully vaccinated status on or before their first workday. People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The department chair’s work is 50% FTE administrative and 50% FTE teaching. Key administrative tasks include:

  1. Hiring, training, and mentoring junior and adjunct faculty
  2. Problem-solving and communicating effectively around faculty and student concerns
  3. Ensuring programs meet market needs, curriculum outcomes, and accreditation standards
  4. Leading with vision and charisma
  5. Representing and advocating for our programs within and outside the university
  6. Contributing to a collaborative and inclusive work environment
  7. Working with key staff to manage the business aspects of the department

The teaching load is 18 credits per year or approximately two 3 credit courses per quarter. Class sizes are small, allowing for excellent student-faculty interaction and creative teaching methods. Efforts will be made to match the courses assigned to the candidate’s strengths and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications include:

  1. Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nutrition, Food Studies, or related area
  2. At least 3 years of administrative experience
  3. At least 5 years of experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level

Preferred qualifications include:

  1. Current or prior ranking as an associate or full professor at a regionally accredited institution
  2. Credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN)
  3. Experience with ACEND-accredited dietetics education programs
  4. Experience with a natural health, integrative, and functional
