Watermelon Agua Fresca

Enjoy the sweet taste of watermelon in a healthy and refreshing drink, perfect as a slushy or popsicles—a treat that everyone can feel good about!

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups seedless watermelon cubes
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 lime
  • Fresh mint
  • Ice

Directions:

  1. Place watermelon and water in a blender. Blend until liquid.
  2. Squeeze 1/2 lime into the mixture and blend again.
  3. Add a sprig of fresh mint and serve over ice.

For a Slushy: Pour the blended drink (without the ice and mint) into a shallow pan and freeze. Scrape the frozen drink with an ice cream scoop and serve in a tall glass.

For Popsicles: Pour the blended drink (without the ice and mint) into popsicle molds and freeze.

Water with a Zing

  • Cucumber and Citrus Water: Add a wedge of cucumber and/or a slice of lemon or lime to your ice water for a refreshing twist.
  • Strawberry and Cucumber Infusion: Slices of fresh strawberries and cucumber will add some flavor to your water without added sugars that spike blood sugar.
  • Frozen Blueberries: Add these to your water to keep it cool, and as the berries melt, they flavor your water and turn it a beautiful color too!

Unsweetened Iced Tea

  • Hibiscus Tea: This tea has a beautiful color and delicious taste. Many blends include raspberry or other fruit combinations, making them sweet and satisfying without added sugars.
  • Fruity Herbal Teas: Any fruity herbal tea can be brewed and iced for a refreshing drink.
  • Green Tea: Brew some green tea and add ice cubes for a cool afternoon pick-me-up. (Note: Green tea naturally contains caffeine.)
