President Joseph Pizzorno, ND
Bastyr University Interim President Dr. Joe Pizzorno is an internationally acclaimed leader in environmental, functional, and integrative medicine. He co-founded Bastyr University and previously served as our university’s first president from 1978-2000. Dr. Pizzorno led the effort to make Bastyr University the first accredited college of naturopathic medicine in the United States.
It is Dr. Pizzorno’s ceaseless mission to transform our disease-driven health care model into a model of care rooted in healthful living, personalized care, and whole person wellness.
Some of his career highlights-to-date include serving on U.S. presidential commissions and leading health care policy reform efforts on a national scale, authoring and co-authoring 14 books including six textbooks for doctors, and international keynote speaking engagements which have taken him to more than 30 countries across five continents.
