Explore creative vegetarian recipes with celebrated food writer Mollie Katzen, author of "The Heart of the Plate" and "The Moosewood Cookbook."

Katzen portraitJoin us and the King County Library System for an evening with celebrated food writer Mollie Katzen, who will discuss creative menus for a plant-based diet.

Katzen is the author of the influential vegetarian collection The Moosewood Cookbook (1977), inspired by the Moosewood Restaurant collective she cofounded in New York state. As a chef, artist, nutritionist and food scholar, Katzen has written and illustrated many food books. She is a charter member of the Harvard School of Public Health Nutrition Roundtable and an inaugural honoree of the Natural Health Hall of Fame. In 2007, "Moosewood Cookbook" was inducted into the James Beard Cookbook Hall of Fame.

Katzen will introduce her new book, The Heart of the Plate: Vegetarian Recipes for a New Generation, a collection of recipes, artwork and reflections on evolution of her own cooking.

This free talk is part of the series "A Place at the Table" organized by the King County Library System. The event will be moderated by Debra Boutin, MS, RD, chair of Bastyr's Department of Nutrition and Exercise Science.
