DATES: November 15-16, 2022. Tuesday-Wednesday. Class will meet from 8:30am-4:30pm. Clinical Applications in Lactation Care is a two-day, in-person, intensive course for sharpening assessment and patient care skills. Participants will be required to provide proof of vaccination and comply with mask requirements. Register early to ensure your space. Clinical Applications in Lactation Care provides a summary of your didactic education and clinical experience, focusing on case studies and the critical thinking required for those who are working with infant and child feeding issues in maternal-child health. This can be your final step in preparation for the IBLCE exam, or it can be an opportunity for you to collaborate with other experienced clinicians and problem solve complex case studies.

In addition to Continuing Education hours, the two days will provide:

  • Networking opportunities
  • Opportunities to reflect on and grow from clinical practice experiences
  • Ideas for how to reduce conflicting advice
  • Roundtable dialogue on challenging lactation cases and evidence-based recommendations.
  • IBCLE Code of Ethics discussion for consideration and implementation (plus 3 Ethics CERPS)

  • An individual who wants basic preparation for becoming an IBCLC
  • An IBCLC requiring CERPs or exam preparation for re-certification
  • Maternity or pediatric nurse working with families with small babies
  • Obstetrician, midwife, pediatrician, or family medicine physician involved with the daily feeding and parenting issues of new families
  • Public health nurse working with new families 
  • Childbirth educator
  • Labor and/or postpartum doula
  • WIC Program clinic staff
  • Facilitator of early parenting education
  • La Leche League leader
  • Occupational Therapist or Speech Language Pathologist working with breastfeeding newborns
