  Bastyr University is recruiting for a Head Chef/Kitchen Manager for the Kenmore Campus Dining Commons. 

The Head Chef/Kitchen Manager will supervise all employees and oversee the operation of the kitchen/dining room in addition to supporting the Director and the administrative needs of the Dining Commons. The Head Chef/Kitchen Manager is a hands-on kitchen production position which includes cooking for buffet meals, grab and go and catering events as well as liaison with conferencing. This position will be required for evening and weekend work per Bastyr Dining Commons scheduling needs. The nature of this position requires candidates to be team players, versatile, and flexible. This is an exempt position.

Required Qualifications: Valid Washington State Food and Beverage Service Worker’s Permit. Three years of professional culinary training or equivalent to include fine dining, catering and large volume cooking. Three years supervisory experience required, food service industry related preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of nutritional cooking to include plant-based, whole foods and gluten free diets. One-year of cashiering experience.


Preferred Qualifications: Three years supervisory experience required, food service industry related preferred.  Culinary training or catering experience desired. Three to five years managing a commercial food service operation including supervising staff, purchasing, budgeting, menu planning and food preparation services.
