This experiential class is for anyone interested in presenting sound meditation experiences. In this weekend course, you will learn what makes a balanced sonic meditation experience using different types of sonic tools so that you can create your Sound Meditation experience for any occasion. Bring your singing bowls, bells, drums, gongs, tuning forks on the 2nd day to incorporate into the meditation. Especially good for professionals who want to incorporate this sound healing into their practice for the benefit of their patients who experience stress and anxiety. Course Date: February 10 & 11 Course Time: 8:30 - 5:30 Instructor: Arden Wilken, LMP 16 CEUS are available to professionals depending on your accrediting body*

Based on 40 years of experience Sound Therapist
Arden Wilken, will share strategies on all aspects
of an integrated sonic experience including optimal
order of sounds, walking the room with tuning forks
or other instruments, correct vocal production and
posture, how to vary the intensity of the experience
and to be a successful sonic guide.

 

"You will learn to lead the INNER SOUND Guided Chakra Sound Meditation* and tailor it to your unique focus with added information of your own, other exercises including movement, visualizations or the addition of other live instruments. The gong and singing bowl backing track used in the basic medication are included along with the course manual.

*This unique meditation was created by Arden and Jack Wilken of INNER SOUND, being presented at conferences & expos in Europe and the US since 1999.

Student Learning Objectives:

Day 1: By the end of the day Participants will be able to:

  1. Describe 3 basic types of sound and their effect
  2. List the 5 phases (NOBFI) of an integrated sonic experience
  3. Demonstrate optimal posture
  4. Demonstrate sound vocal production
  5. List 3 ways to vary the intensity of a sonic experience
  6. List 3 traits of a successful Sonic Guide

Day 2: By the end of the day, relating to a Balance Sonic Experience, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the 5 phases (NOBFI)
  2. Describe the use of visualizations
  3. Describe the use of colors
  4. Create one using NOBFI
  5. Guide one
  6. Critique one

COURSE NOTES:

Print out course material from Bastyr website and bring to course. Wear comfortable clothes.
Bring a yoga mat if you have one. 

For Day 2 bring any instruments, singing/crystal bowls, or tuning forks you currently own or play that you would like to incorporate into a SONIC ALIGNMENT Meditation.

Location: Bastyr University Kenmore Campus, room #286. Bastyr University is housed in an older facility with fluctuating interior temperatures; it is advisable to wear layers. Also, Bastyr is a “fragrance-free” campus

One hour lunch break – Bring a sack lunch or dine in our cafeteria (Bastyr’s dining commons closes at 3 p.m.)

Arden Wilken, LMP (WA#60342210) is an American musician, composer of therapeutic music (29 CDs), sound therapist and body worker. She is co-founder of INNER SOUND (est.1978), an original system of sound therapy and therapeutic music. She developed the session protocols and trainings for both the Basic & Advanced trainings for the INNER SOUND Spiral of 5ths Tuning Forks and Voice Workshop for Self-Care. She co-authored with Jack Wilken the peer-reviewed article “Our Sonic Pathways”.
