Celebrate the holidays with a new perspective on some old favorites. Vivaldi worked at the Ospedale della Pietà, an orphanage for girls in Venice, as a violin teacher and then later as maestro de’ concerti. Many people do not realize that iconic works like his Gloria and Magnificat, which are now usually sung by mixed voice choirs, were originally written for his own women’s ensemble singing even the lowest parts. Beloved violinist Monica Huggett leads readings of these masterworks as they were originally heard, performed by an all-female orchestra, soloists, and chorus. Seattle Girls Choir joins the ensemble for this joyous celebration!
