Course Description

Hone your skills and knowledge as you prepare to certify or recertify as an IBCLC. If you are taking the IBLCE exam for the first time, or trying to understand the new recertification strategies, or planning for the Self-assessment exam, or maybe just wanting the latest in research updates, this course is where you want to be! Join like-minded peers in a fast-moving program with two IBCLC instructors who have been in the profession since its first years. Both have certified and recertified 8 times, including the new recertification process. We know the stress and confusion, but we also know the pleasure of learning new things as we prepared. We will share that pleasure and enthusiasm with all of you.

The first two days will be a quick review of the key education requirements from the IBLCE Detailed Content Outline to help prepare you to ace your exams (whether it be for the initial IBLCE exam or the Self-Assessment exam).  Intertwined with these established facts will be new and exciting research findings or just things we find intriguing. Some will want to take this course just to dive deep for two days to re-explore the amazing world of lactation and update your own evidence-based best practice. Get excited and intrigued with us.

The last day covers test-taking strategies for both the initial exam and preparing for Self-assessment. There is proctoring of mock IBLCE exams with both picture and multiple-choice sections. Some questions match the increased difficulty of the Self-Assessment exam and will more than prepare you for the initial IBLCE exam. Registration is accessible online via the Calendar of Events on the EPE website. Space is limited, so register now!

This course is designed for you if you meet ONE or more of the following criteria:

  • Have attended a comprehensive 3 to 6 day program in breastfeeding education
  • Have strong clinical skills in assisting breastfeeding families
  • Have met the IBLCE exam eligibility requirements
