Congratulations to Bastyr University California Associate Dean for Naturopathic Medicine Joni Olehausen, ND, who was a finalist in two different categories in the San Diego Business Journal’s 2015 Healthcare Champions Awards.
Dr. Olehausen was up for the top “Health Care Educator” and “Company Executive” and was invited to attend an award ceremony with other local leaders from the medical and business fields at Balboa Park’s Hall of Champions on October 15, 2015.
Dr. Olehausen humbly said that while she was honored to be considered for the awards, “I just feel like I’ve been doing my job, which is to educate future naturopathic doctors and educate people about naturopathic medicine.”
Bastyr University Senior Vice President and Provost, Timothy C. Callahan, PhD, nominated Dr. Olehausen and was effusive in his praise, writing, “Her years of leadership in the field of naturopathic medicine have been invaluable as Bastyr University’s San Diego campus expands; her belief that no mission is impossible, taking on two different roles at the campus during a period of need that led to rapid growth; her passion for supporting the health care needs of the underserved in her community; her advocacy for the needs of students, staff, faculty and patients; and her calm demeanor and approachable style is coupled by a burning desire to see Bastyr and naturopathic medicine succeed. She is the best of many different worlds, and Bastyr and San Diego are lucky to call her their own.”
Congratulations to Dr. Olehausen on being named a finalist in not one, but two categories!
